Wall lab’s intern Eden Senay presented the results of her study on host suitability for an endoparasitic soil nematode during the poster session of the 2017 Front Range Student Ecology Symposium. Her experiment showed that the so-called root lesion nematode, P. penetrans, infects dominant grass species in the arid shortgrass and moist tallgrass prairies.
Eden, a sophomore in high school, worked in this experiment on summer 2016 as part of her STEM internship with the Wall lab. During the internship she showed tremendous enthusiasm to learn, curiosity and persistence in typical laboratory routines. We are very pleased for the experience of working with Eden, and wish her lots of success through her path towards a career as a mystery-solving scientist!
